Looking Glass 2014 Gala Dinner Event

Another HUGE success for Woodstone Residence on Galiano Island.  They do such great work for people with eating disorders. This year was the 10 year anniversary celebration and it heightened the excitement

The decor was simple perfection. It was an absolute pleasure to eat under indoor Cherry Blossoms

Vancouver celebrity Pamela Martin was the MC and did a smashing job as usual

This year T and I worked with another lovely lady named Carina we met as Cracker Girls. We sold them $50 for 1 or $100 for 3. Inside you had a chance to win 2 tickets on AC anywhere in North America and/or an instant gift certificate

 K, the food, nom nom!

Hmmm.....wonder how these guys managed to generate a $40,000 bid at the live auction for dinner with and made by .......................firefighters...............

What ya doin Linsey, working away

Last years event raised over $400,000, this year their hoping for over $500,000

They also had some great news to share. The Lougheed family have generously donated the Ronald McDonald House as a new Looking Glass location!

Cheers to all, a job well done

BHANA Designs - Trisha Rampersad Meet n Greet

I first met Trisha at ECO Fashion Week 2013.  She was kind enough to grant me an interview. I found her so adorable and bubbly

She really is beautiful inside and out! Her ethical/eco friendly designs are to die for!

You can browse through her collection at http://bhana.ca/

Lucky for us she is now sharing space with Soiree Lounge on Mainland in Vancouver. They create and coordinate events.  I found the shop has a very cozy relaxing feel. Frankly the only thing missing is a wood burning stove. I could have curled up for hours

Here is a sneek peek into her upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

I approached Trisha to see if she would like to donate a garment to a fundraiser I'm working on for the Looking Glass Foundation's 10th Anniversary Gala.  This years event is to be held on Januray 31, 2014. There are still tickets available http://www.lookingglassbc.com/

She jumped right on board. Wow, did I all but fall over to find this is the Trapezoid, created from Ahimsa silk, hand painted dress that was ours to auction

Check out our interview below

We also had a little Vine fun. You just click on the Vine wording at the bottom to hear the sound or visit my Twitter @Globedater (button above) or Vine at GlobeDater

Blingo Blingo Jewelry, Candy To My Eyes

I recently came across a start up Facebook Fan Page called Blingo Blingo

It was exciting to see such a new site and I was intrigued by the pop up sale concept

I must admit, I love a giveaway and hashtag:  #coachpurse, #free, #giveaway, #jewelry, #love ...  you get my point, this sight has lots. There was a great Coach purse giveaway with few shares, so I decided to tell all my friends about it.  For the first time ever I felt like I or someone I knew would actually win.  He he, my friend Kay did win, yeahhhhhhh

The whole start up thing really catches my attention.  I  got to wondering about the brains behind the scenes. I'm like a sponge, my thing is to reach out to people and try to learn how to take a dream and make it a reality.  So I contacted and was pleased to be able to meet the CEO and Founder Purple.  She's as cute as ever ... and that is the funnest name

We had a lovely latte and treat to get to know one another.  And a, hhm, yes of course I was eyeing up the bag of goodies she agreed to bring at my urging. Can you say, shiny

I just loves me some costume jewelry, yum.  Can make an outfit by a mile.  Not cheap looking though. These 18 kt. gold dipped bracelets were definitely some of my favourites as well as the silver bead bracelets. I would need to stop myself from layering right up my arm

Turns out Purple comes from a long line of Jewelers. She has the expertise and working knowledge for high end jewels.  I'd say an eye for quality is definitely needed to supply good quality costume jewelry.  We all love it, you can say it. You'll notice the Love bracelet is facing me and not outward.  Decided I could look at THAT more often, LOL

Entrepreneurs rock my world; people that want to drum to their own beat. In our conversation I learned Purple travels the world, has lived in many places AND professionally arranges flowers.  Where can I sign up?

Check out Blingo Blingo's FB page for their next sale https://www.facebook.com/blingoblingojewels
or Twitter @BlingoBlingo

The best part....we might even work together on a project, pinch me!

Oh, and just an FYI, there is Chanel makeup giveaway on right now.  Don't delay and enter

Create Your Own Heat Source

Saw a video today from a boat owner on how to create your own little heat source

My work area is directly beside a window and in the winter its a very cool spot.  Doesn't help my windows are so old (future job).  Decided to give this a try as an alternate to constantly using the furnace

I had a brief discussion with myself around carbon monoxide, however, I'm using tea lights and those are candles everyone uses around the house on a regular basis; put that to rest

Apparently it works with the air moving around between the pots and pushing out around the room

Supplies: I found all this stuff just lying around the house

I got a little fancier than the boater who uses this to heat his boat

Top off the inside pot

Place the larger pot over the smaller one

The candles will burn for around 4 hours. Your heating a small space for about .15 cents a day ... sounds like a deal

We'll see if this keeps me cozy.  Brilliant!

Jackhammer Unwanted Cement

Needed my sump pump to sit below water level so went to Home Depot and rented a BOSCH jackhammer

Made short order of the job and did it in under 1 hour

Would I rent one again, lets just say I hope I never have too. Very easy to use however really really heavy

The price was right, $65.00 rental fee
